🚫 Attractions Where Pets Are NOT Allowed

In these locations, pets are completely prohibited inside buildings, gondola cabins, or facilities (excluding certified service animals).

Banff Gondola (Sulphur Mountain)

Pets are not permitted inside the gondola cabins, the summit terminal building, or boardwalks. Note: Leashed pets are allowed to hike up the Sulphur Mountain Trail, but they are not permitted to ride down in the gondola.

⚠️ Transport & Attractions with STRICT Restrictions

Pets are only allowed under very narrow conditions (usually requiring a small, lap-sized carrier). Medium to large dogs are not permitted.

Parks Canada Shuttles (Lake Louise & Moraine Lake)

To use the official park shuttles to get to the lakeshores, non-service pets must be secured inside a small, hard-walled or soft kennel that fits entirely on your lap. Large dogs are not permitted on board.

National Park Hiking Trails & Lakeshores

Leashed pets are highly welcome on the vast majority of outdoor trails across Banff and Lake Louise (including the open shores of Lake Louise and Moraine Lake). Note: In winter, dogs are banned from select groomed cross-country ski trails when covered in snow. Always pick up waste and keep them on a physical leash—it's federal law.

The only spot within the town boundaries where dogs can safely run free off-leash. It is fully fenced with open fields and parking available.
